ram problem?

i just picked up this lovely mpc 2000xl a month ago and its just awesome. it just basically came with the stock ram installed. bought the 32mb ram upgrade online, just came in yesterday and after i installed it, i guess it doesnt read the new installed upgrade and said that i still have the 2mb installed. i know for a fact that it cant be the ram, so could it be a faulty mpc? everything else works fine. is there anyway i can repair it? or get it repaired by anyone? im from hawaii so shipping might be a problem for me, but if theres no other way, i'll pay akai to repair it for me as a last resort. so pls hlp if you have info or what not. thanks!

how do you know "for a fact" that it is not the ram?

a link to the ram you bought online might help, too. are you sure you bought the right stuff?
another guess is you just didnt put it in all the way. take it out, and really make sure that it gets pushed all the way down. I can't remember how the mpc ram slot works, but i know on old pcs, sometimes you might think it is in, but the locking mechanism is actually preventing it from being in fully.

the ram is brand new. and was tested on my friends mpc and it seems to work on his. i installed it back into mine, and still same problem =/
