2000xl/Pro Tools sync issue?

I'm attempting to sync my 2000xl to pro tools 7.0 (MBox 2) using MIDI Beat Clock. When I go to track into Pro Tools the MPC will start and show (EXT) next to the tempo. Then after a while (sometimes two bars, sometimes 100) the MPC hiccups and stops and the "(EXT)" disappears. Pro Tools however keeps recording. I've tried adjusting the playback engine, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've tracked successfully before with the same setup and this seems to be a new issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

you have to make sure the PT is at the exact tempo as the mpc.


make sure beat clock is enabled (which it should be if its starting the machine fine).


also, try a new cable ASAP. may be the issue with the sync drop.




I think the 2k follows well.... most likely it is a bad cable.
