MPC 2000 I need HELP assigning SND files to various banks an

Just purchased a MPC 2000. I need assistance in making sure these SND files are loaded correctly (the proper steps) so i can assign them to pads.
PROBLEM : I can hear he SND file when I go from DO IT to PLAY..after that I get the LOAD A SOUND SCREEN. I was told that at this point to press a pad and the (--/OFF) should change to the pad im pressing. THAT AINT HAPPENING!

I'm using Sennheiser headphones (brand new) and again i can hear the sound. At SHIFT F6 i believe im doing something wrong. Guru's please help me out!!!!!! OMG! This is frying my brain... I have a band rehearsal in an hour at church and a performance tomorrow at 7:30... AND I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

try to highlight the (--/OFF) with the cursor and press a pad
