in the connector is it just a slot or are there pins in it?

cause it sort of looks like a cf adapter with no power connector (maybe it's underneath?)

but still, it isn't the eb16 that is for certain

eb16:

Completely different connector from the flash ROM board.

It it likely a RAM Expansion Board for the S3000 series of samplers as it has a similar connector.

The flash from your camera obscured the part number of the board -- it is located at the bottom of your picture and starts with the letter L.

any confirmation of what it is for sure? Got me curious now..

and nice on the f-rom pic, I wasn't able to find one to compare... what is the code for that expansion?

I already responded to the original poster elsewhere, but just to let you know:

The two biggest chips on the board are 1mbit memory chips. That makes a total of 2mbit of memory, which is 256kb. The only Akai sampler that I know of in which one could fit 256kb RAM, was the S700 (it came with either 128kb or 256kb). So everything points in the direction of this being an original memory board for the Akai S700 sampler.
