cutting samples for beginner... HELP!!

I just started using my MPC today, and am attempting to make my first beat by cutting samples

I have 3 sounds programed to 3 pads on the MPC. I trimmed each part of the sample to my liking. When i try and play around with the sounds, they always overlap, or double up if i press the pad to quick. Is there a way for the sound to stop after i press a pad a second time? Every video tutorial i watch never explains this. Is it unavoidable? or do i have to trip each sound down shorter?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Play with the settings in the "Overlap:" field in the Program screen under PARAMeterS. There's 3 options to choose from. Also, press open window for mute options.

it's also a learning thing. everybody double-taps at first. you'll get over it.

no. but you could set the sound to mono and then hit a second time very lightly, and if your velocity setting is set correctly, it would sound like you were cutting it with a second hit because the second one would be super quiet.

yeah it sux, play around with mono, note off et cetera. Im struggling with this too as im a complete noob to the 2000. You have to :"learn" some finger technique. I find it is best to hit pads with two fingers together, instead of just one.

If im not mistaken you need to mess with the polyphony so when you hit a pad then another after it cuts the sound i would check you tube tutorials

ezibeats got it go to program and change polyphony to mono that will make a second hit of the SAME pad cut the sound from the first hit, to cut other pads you need to open window over the polyphony menu, peace
