What's up people, I usually don't make an introduction when I join a forum, but I figured why not.
So I've had a set of turntables for a couple years now; always loved scratching, beat juggling, and the occasional mixing. But one of my friends introduced me to this interesting little machine: the mpc 1k. He was nice enough to let me borrow it so I took care of it for about a month, but never really got familiar with it, in fact it was down right intimidating (maybe that cuz I used to smoke a lot of pot lol).
Well anyway, ever since than I always wanted to pick up a 2k xl and last monday i got it in the mail!!! I was so excited, even though the seller said it was in great shape, but had 5 broken pads and a busted slider, I still loved it and felt compelled to nurse it back to health. Running on floppy was obviously a pain in the ass too so I picked up new pad sensors and the mcd drive and the install went smooth enough. I actually took it into work today for someone to replace the slider (I usually get my hands dirty when it comes to this stuff, but I figured hell, he can do it and he'll do it right).
So along with this introduction I'd like to include my first ever production. Everything is from vinyl. It was recorded into the line in on my crappy laptop so the sound isn't great, but you'll get the idea. I can't tell you how much I've learned in the last 9 days; it's really been a great experience. And reading some of your posts has been quickly educational as well, even if it is just a reference to a page number in the owners manual, it's quicker than me going through that hunk myself.
Can't wait to really get down on this thing!
