MPC S950?

How can I use drums from the S950 but use samples from my MPC2000? Is there a way I can use my S950 drums through MIDI and have my samples on another pad bank on my MPC or do I have to use every sound from the S950 and use the MPC as a MIDI controller?

you can use both outputs of the mpc and the 950
just connect a midi cable from an mpc midi out and the 950 midi in
you got to create a keygroup program in the 950 to play multiple samples
read the 950 manual to learn how...

Its so much easier if you sample the S950 into the MPC...unless you want to load programs on both devices for one beat...

the mpc2000 doesn't have time stretch plus the 950 filters and resampling functions are very useful too
the filters and lfo and other 950 sh*t are very good
you can tweak your samples in real time in a way te 2000 classic can't do

couple s900 questions, just got one for 25 at a yard sale. I have it midi out of 2000xl to midi in s900. Question is about tips on looping. I looped a bassline in the 900 and want to trigger with the xl and lay samples with the xl. When I am looping should I set playback in 900 to loop or 1 shot? I am trying both and can get it on 900 but when I trigger it w the xl it might loop for 2 bars but seems to slip out of timing and then will miss the next 2 bars. Also I am getting some static out of the 900 when I am trigering the bassline sample. It seems tied to the velocity on the pads some times if I hit the pad just right no static. Can you turn the velocity off on the 900 like full level on the xl? Is this a problem w the pads on my xl? Hope someone has some tips!

Looks like you kind of answered your own question, if you try to loop it for too long it will drift out of sync. So use 1 shot.

As for static, no idea. But there is very likely a way to turn velocity off for samples on the 900...i doubt it is called 'full level', but you can likely just make it immune to velocity changes.

You can set the Velocity sense on EDIT PRGM -> PAGE 10 -> LOUDNESS
Set it to 0 and the 900 dont react on velocity no more.
Or you can use the full level on the MPC Pads to play the 900. Since the full level will always send a velocity of 127 (max) the 900 will always play back the samples at 127.
