Internal Hard Drive Question

Hello hello. I been using mpc 2000 classic for like 2 years. Few weeks before my zip drive went crazy. Now my mpc didn't recognize the zip drive.. So I was wondering is it possible and is it worth to do this http://www.mpc2000xl.com/Internalhd.htm (internal hard drive) without removing my floppy reader 'cos I still use it and I love floppys but saving all the beats to them is madness. Or I should buy a new zip drive ? OH P.S. I'm a old school head so i don't wanna get a internal card reader.

One thing to bear in mind is that the classic does not have internal scsi, so you have to modify it to allow the external scsi connection to be used internally.

I don't know the exact details on that, but do realise it's not as plug-and-play as that page shows it with the XL.

The internal HD install is good and bad.
Good to keep your samples internally depending on your HD size.
Bad in the sense that the only way to get the samples off of he HD to edit is to have a Zip disk or card reader card and send it to a computer.
Needless to say, I got an internal 9GB HD installed in mine so i really know the ins and outs of having one.

damn. So I guess a new zip driver is cheaper and simpler than a HD yea ?

haha no matter how old school you are, a cf reader is the best bet. you are just gonna keep replacing that zip drive and those disks are just going to keep failing, until one day, there won't be anymore or they will be super expensive and even more error prone.

but yes, to answer your question, a new zip is the cheapest / simplest bet. I have a ton of scsi zip 100 drives i do not want (got them in a trade). pm me if you want to arrange something. i'm dead serious i would love these things to get used other than sitting in a box on my floor.

are these the internal zip 100 drives or the exteral zip 100 drives lol? I need one for my xl let me know Noggin lol
