Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Ok this may be a noob question but I have making beats for forever and I just got the CF card reader for my comp.
And I transfered all my files over onto my comp but I cant remember what is what because I named them random things. How do you guys save your files in your mpc: programs, sounds, and sequences... I need a method for this madness.

i save all my stuff as follows:

.APS - all programs and sounds. i save this as whatever the project folder is called - so if you're working on a beat called, say 'magic' , i save my file as magic.APS

i do exactly the same for my sequences - i always save them as an .ALL file (all sequences and songs). so i'd save it as magic.ALL

(the mpc will add the extensions for you, no need to do it yourself. )

if you save all your beats this way, these 2 files will load your entire project/beat without you needing to search for any sounds or sequences.

as for naming individual sounds, make sure you stay on top of this as you go along - after making/editing a sound, name it immediately, and purge your programs of unused sounds regularly (if you're sure you're not using/going to use them.)

just remember: each new beat needs its own folder within the 'root' file. then this folder contains your .APS & .ALL files, as well as all the sounds used in the project.
