One other question about the MPC 60. Will it partition a full 32GB flash card or is 16GB the max it will make partitions for?

Man, I wish! You can only get 780MB on a CF card (or a Zip drive or a hard drive or any SCSI media) with the MPC60 and MPC3000 samplers. Yes, you read that right - 780MB (less than 1GB). This is a limitation of the operating systems, not of any SCSI drives.

I believe so - I have been testing a 32GB CF card on my XL with the CF-CARD drive and after 3 weeks, no problems.

I was looking at buying an MPC 2000 this weekend. And I was thinking about buying and installing a CF card drive. I did a search on the internet and found your site....just to come here and find this thread. If I pick up an MPC 2000, I will order a drive from you for sure...

ya, i too have a 2000 classic, and have been trying to find a scsi zip drive locally, but after finding this thread, im pretty much sold on the CF drive. my only question is do you have pics showing the install? im curious to see how everything goes together for the 2000 classic

Here is what the inside of your MPC2000 will look like once you install the CF-CARD drive and install kit:



And there is a very short ribbon cable that connects to the two plugs on the back of the MPC2000:



As you can see, there is a female DB25 plug on the cable that provides an external SCSI connection in the event you ever want to use any external drives.

I'll be happy to hook you up with a SCSI card reader drive for your MPC2000 Classic and I know you'll be very happy with it. As mentioned on my website, your MPC2000 cannot have the SMPTE board installed - if it does, you'd have to remove it to use my kit. But that has not presented a problem yet, as almost no one uses SMPTE on the MPC2000 Classic.

if you are looking for plenty of pics and more description on what is involved . . . . just to give you a basic idea . . . check it out for yourself. i helped a friend put a flash drive and its working pretty good.

in the studios i still see equipment connected to the SMPTE for the syncing time code feature. just make sure you do not need it or it will come back to bite you. nice to see this guys website -now- mentions losing the smpte slot to add a new scsi port as it was not mentioned 3 days ago. mpc2000 users should be aware of this detail so there are no surprises. also, nice to see the never-before-seen pics of the cf-drive installed in mpc2000 posted 2 days ago.
