MPC 2000xl sampler

Hey there, im considering getting an mpc over a computer sequencer, but im not sure as I want to do hip hop but also some house, I'm not sure how good it will be for house.
My main question is, with the sampler in the MPC2Kxl, are you able to take a sample, and map it across a keyboard? Or is it just play back that the sampler allows you to do?

with the 2000xl u can but u are limited to just 4 progams. the mpc does have hands down the best seq i ever used. I would get a 2000xl and then get a rackmount. i bought an akai s2000 for $150 off ebay and also got an Emu Esi-2000 for $200. these two rackmounts are mad nice and give me 32 programs if i ever needed it. I usally use bout 7 or 8 programs mainly due to chops and what ur describing. Also with the s2000 and the s3000xl u can use a good program on ur pc to SCSI it to it so u can control all the functions from the pc and also open ur samples in a wave editor like wavelab. rack mounts and an mpc is a very good combination due to the mpcs limited sampler. If u want the best of both worlds though i would get the mpc 4000 cause it give u a real nice sampler and the mpcs rugged sequining. but if ur tryin to save loot get a 2k or a 2kxl and get a rackmount. Also check out the s5000 they are pretty cheap on ebay now too, like $300. They are very nice.

the mpc's seq/swing is just the shit for house man, trust me, from sloppy to tight.

swing on the mpc? i dont see that in the owners manual
