slice sound, create new program, bumps all other programs

Hello, I have searched my manual and this forum for an answer to this...

Basically, my workflow is interrupted because usually I make beats first and then create samples. Now, most of the time, I will just manually assign samples to pads in the program screens. But, when I have, say a sample I have automagically sliced 16 using "slice sound" and i select "yes" for creating a new program, it bumps all my drum patterns...

so, if I had been working on DRUM 1 and got my beat all sequenced and then sliced a sample, that sliced sample is now in DRUM1 and my beat sounds have been moved to DRUM 2. thus, my sequence is off, and I have to go in and adjust.

I just wanna know how I can automatically assign slices to a program of my choice, and not throw all my other work off. Yes, I could do this manually, but I must be something simple.

Short answer, no, there's no way to automatically put the sounds in ANOTHER program, and not create a NEW one.

Personally, I think the 'auto-create pgm' option is sometimes more trouble than it's worth. It only takes like a minute to add the new samples yourself, and then you don't have either the problems you are describing or even more little annoyances (drum assignments jumping around, adding unnecessary programs). You just get more control doing it manually, and that little bit of extra work is pretty useful.

I don't use auto-create pgm anymore unless I'm just testing something out...and then I'll usually delete that program pretty soon after I put the samples where I want, how I want. Honestly, I hit the 24 program limit pretty frequently so I often don't even have the luxury of creating a new program.
