Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I load a sample from a floppy onto my mpc and it starts playing and looping randomly without me touching a pad or anything. Also When I try and mute the track it brings up bank A on the screen and it shows 2 pads flickering from selected to deselected without me touching anything. One more note is that when I am on the main screen and go down to select a track and open the window it says New Name and all these random letters and dashes start typing in the space and I am again not touching any pad or buttons. I recently bought and installed the new sensor pads for the MPC2000xl but its still doing the exact same thing as stated above. Any suggestions? I am not sure what is going on with my MPC, but is this fixable? THanks for your feedback!

that sounds like a short circuit in the pad sensor.

The pads are responsible for typing characters when naming (think texting with the pads)

also when you say they are flickering on bank A.. I am guessing you pushed the track mute screen?

the pads flickering is the indication if it's muted or not.. you push a pad and it's muted and the square goes white indicating that track number wont play... you push the pad again and it unmutes the track... so if they are flickering that indicates something is shorting the sensor since you aren't touching anything.

may I suggest opening it up to make sure no dampness has gotten in there.. maybe try reseating the pad sensor connector.. perhaps a replacement is due.
