Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

My headphones are plugged directly into my mpc 2000 so this should narrow things down a lot. Im getting an airy static sound in the left channel when play the samples on the pads. The bigger the sample is, especially kicks, I get this noise in the left channel (left headphone). It sounds like when youre shooting at the aliens in space invaders. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

i've experienced that sound when you've got a low tone with a long tail, sampled at too-low a bitrate.
not sure why it would be only the left channel though.
does it come off the main outs too?
how about the individual outs, if you have an 8out card?

where are you getting the samples, could it at all be a problem with the sample itself?

Yes, it does come out of the main outs (left) also. I dont have 8out expansion. I usually sample a lot of my own drum sounds, However this noise just popped up a few months ago. It wasnt there before. When I sample I usually add gain at the source and almost never turn the rec gain past 50%. I still have the floppy of standard drums by Akai. Ill check those samples and see if the noise is still there.
