I was thinking the same thing.
I just realize that since the gain & volume board is a module, it is not necessary to desolder in order to check taper and resistance of each pots. Just detach the MOLEX connector and use multimeter.

still not rushing to do it, getting the board out in my improper fashion was not fun. ;]
