16 levels question?

I just bought an oxygen 8 and when i've been using both the pads and the keyboard to play some samples and i got a question bout 16 levels tuning....when i turn the 16 levels on (and all the pads contain different tunings), should i be able to play all those different tunings/velocity of the note from my oxygen controller also? The controller doesnt seem to be getting the 16 levels of the notes, is there a way that i can turn 16 levels on and be able to play all those tunings with my oxygen? - thus, play melodies on the oxygen instead of the pads?

MPC2000xl with a midiman oxygen 8 - 25 key controller

In that case it's Autochromatic Assign. It's even in the manual.
