doing your own installations

anybody else have any problems opening their mpc? i got my 32 mb ram expansion last night, attempted to open my mpc, but failed shirt because i couldn't unscrew two screws. i was starting to strip the screw from applying too much force. out of frustration, i quit trying to open it, being i didn't want to totatlly strip the screws. so i put it back together and it turns out i had two extra screws that i didn't know where they were supposed to go! i feel like an idiot now. i dont want to pay a grip for someone else to do it, but i don't wanna mess up my mp trying to do it myself. anybody have any suggestions/ stories/ tips that are similar to my situation?

When I opened my (then new) mpc2000xl three years ago to add the ram I couldn't get one screw undone do to it being prestripped. Luck had it, and I was able to work around the problem and install without removing the one screw. Makes me scared to attempt to install the flash and 8 out cards that I've been wanting.

If you cannot unscrew a srew, it's probably save to say it's not a great idea to install your own options in your mpc.

I watched my girl trying to fix her motorcycle once, and what struck me was that half the time she was using the wrong tool. If you're not a retard and you have the right screwdriver, you don't need to be hulk hogan to open up your mpc.

i installed everything myself, 32 mbs, 8 outs, eb16 and i didnt have any problem.. im missing a screw now though that i misplaced when i opened it the last time... never try to install anything high..

I had a couple of stuck screws also. I stuck a butter knife under the head of the screw, pryed up on it and at the same time unscrewed it out. Voila!

I just installed ram on my MP last week. If I can do it, you can too.

In the manual, it shows which screws come out- I think there are two that stay in and still allow you to remove the bottom. That was important for me, cuz I would've just taken them all out if I hadn't known. Maybe the ones you're having trouble with are supposed to stay in. Check the manual.

word. i ended up installing the ram with no problems. i used a power tool instead of a normal screwdriver. i recommend anyone doing their own installations to use one. it's a lot faster and a lot safer.
