**NEED HELP**

I installed two 16mb simms into my xl tonight. Before I screwed the bottom back on I put the power in and made sure the mp read that there was 32mb installed... which it did. I then turned it off, put it back together, pluged all leads back in and left it for about an hour. When I went back to use it I turned it on and it doesn't start up. Like when you start it up normally, the screen comes on and all the lights light up for a second, but now it just stays like that... blank screen, all lights on, and none of the buttons do anything. So then I took the bottom off again and took out the ram I put in and tested it. But it just does the same thing, so I don't think it's the memory. Anyone know what could've happened? Ever seen or heard of this before?

I was going to say check the fuse coming from the transformer but you said the light comes on.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.
Check the connections to your screen. Maybe the ribbon cable got pinched or came loose on the inside.

It's not just the screen though. All the lights come on and stay on (eg. hitting the track mute botton doesn't turn the track mute button light off... same with the 16 levels button, etc). And when I try to eject the zip disk I got in there it doesn't do anything.

I'm at a loss here fellas. Please, if anyone knows anything...

mpc3000, of all the people on this board I'm looking in your direction man. Can you drop any knowledge on this or should I give up and take it to a pro tech?

Problem solved. One of the wires going from the zip drive to the main board was knocked out of the connecter, which basically, if power doesn't get to the zip drive the whole system won't boot when you power it up.

Thanks for your help JUKE, you were right, but it just wasn't the screen, it was the zip.
