How to save tracks to play it live with fast switch?

How to save tracks to play it live with fast switch? Saving like APS & ALL is ok but if you have to play live there will be a long pause between songs. Any suggestions?

the only suggestion i can make is to adapt to your machine.

sit down one night and combine your programs into fewer programs, and your sequences into a bigger set of sequences.

step one is to save each PGM and sequence individually.

step two is to start loading up each PGM and MID file trying to build a 'super' set that you can load just once.

the issues you have to consider are -
if you run out of programs (maximum: 24), you are gonna have to start copying/rebuilding programs into each other.
if you run out of ram, get to work discarding unused sample data, converting to mono, reusing sounds, etc.
if you run out of sounds (maximum: 256), you are really gonna have to get creative and remember to PURGE and also trash any sounds you aren't using.

basically, create separate 'live versions' of your projects and combine them all into one massive APS and ALL.

I use MPCs live and the suggested method is the fastest. However - in case that your machine crashes mid set (it happened to me once with MPC2kXL and quite often with the 1000) than the audience will have to wait for some sime than the sets gets reloaded (I remember it was about 2 mins for the full memory, that I spent beatboxing and I am no beatboxer at all). After that I developed method of loading of sets that were stripped of any unused sounds so that they load fast and use something to make bridges betwen songs (intros). Like another sampler or any noise box.

okay, here's the dumb answer.... maybe too costly, but hey, why not 2 mpc's? that's what DJ's are doing with 2 decks, you can load your next song while preforming on the other mp.
