Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,

Pretty new to the MPC world but I picked up a 2000xl a few days ago and have been learning how to use it fairly quickly but this has happened to me twice now. I've hit 'play start' by accident, and it has erased all the work i've done on that sequence. Is this the norm? Are there any ways I can get my data back? I had saved it under a name and that file is still there to load when i reboot the system. The file size is 34k so there must be some info there, but when I hit play to play the 4 bar loop I was working on (with multiple tracks laid down and levels edited in the mixer) it plays nothing and it looks like a completely new sequence with all default names and settings. The mixer levels are all at the same level etc.

weird...any ideas anyone? I did google it and looked through the manual but nothing... have I picked up a dodgy unit?

Thanks in advance.

It appears you have only saved the sequence, and not the program with all the sounds. If this is the case, your work is lost unfortunately.

When you want to save a beat you've made, always save your sequences AND your programs WITH all the sounds. Detailed information how to do these things can be found in the manual.

Don't feel bad, this happens to many people when they first use an MPC.
