Default Sample Rate

Tried to do a search on this but didn't get much. Not sure if this has been asked before.

Is there any possible way to set the default sample rate on the 2000XL PRIOR to recording a sample?

In essence I'm just looking for a way to use 8 or 12 bit samples without having to wait for the unit to process resampling.

You can always buy a SP-202 and use it as a filter between your mixer and MPC

That's funny, a while back before I owned this MPC I actually sold an SP-202. I didn't like the way it operated, but it did have a pretty gritty sound to it.

sampling the material sped up, the pitching down, is the only way to 'lower the sample rate' on an xl.

if you're asking to get a 'sound' - i think you're barking up the wrong tree. low sample / bit rates on modern gear just equates to muddy sound, not magic sound like on an eps or sp1200. that sound is as much the converters and processing as it is the low sample rate.

and obviously you've experienced how awful the processing time is on an xl (20 minutes for a 4 second sample i've seen).

recommendation...
find something else to colour your sound - sample faster and pitch down, sample through an fx unit, record to crappy tape first then sample that, but basically just dont ever waste yer time trying to do the processing on the mpc.
if you really MUST reduce the sample rate, do it on a computer and then import via flash card or disk or something.

Buy a cheap s900/950 and resample that back in to your mpc.
