Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Shylock Sat Oct 23, 2004 1:59 am
hey

ive done alot of searches - and i can only find a couple of places that sell 2000xls - and these are stock models, no internal zip or maxed ram

it seems that the only option is to buy off ebay. now, ive got no problem with this - but any info on places to buy new ones would be appreciated

cheers

why would u want the 2000? why not get the 2000xl and just put in the options ur self. The ram is cheap and easy and u can put in a zip drive or just buy a scsi one of ebay. But if u need a old 2000 get on ebay.

2000's are long gone from the shop shelves...Grab that XL while u still got the chance. Distribution over here (London etc) is tight

over the summer i looked at getting a brand new mpc2000xl... but nowhere had any of them because all the shops were waiting for the new blue cased one to appear but there was some big holdup according to the stores i talked to.

the mpc2000xl just comes stock and then you have to pay the store for the extra memory if you want it. if a store sells the mpc it will also sell the memory for it.

in terms of the internal zip drive no store said they would fit one... the best thing to do is either go to a computer store and talk to them or look on ebay for a second had external/internal one. (remeber to get a usb one for our pc if you wanna transfer samples to and from machines).

which sores have the 2000xl in stock?

peace

Get hold of one of the UK music technology magazines like Sound On Sound or Future Music. Then phone all the big dealers who take out the regular big adverts, like Turnkey in London, Guitar Amp & Keyboard Centre in Brighton etc. Often they might have just one or two things left that are not worth listing in the magazines, or they will get in touch with distributors for you & try & locate things. It often depends on whether someone helpful & knowledgeable answers the phone, but I've had stores manage to locate the last available model of a discontinued bit of kit before.

Internal zips......... I always think it is better to get an external zip & leave the internal floppy in place. Zip drives do go wrong so it is good to have the floppy for emergencies.

didnt say i wanted a 2000 - XLs what im looking for

the momory isnt really a problem - i can fit it myself - its not hard
same with the zip drive - fitting it wouldnt be a problem

but having them but in already when i get it would be nice

all ireally wanted were a few websites in the uk with the 2000xl in stock

U aint making much sense here....Since u found a few places (u only needed 1) that stock the XL, why not get it and do what you gotta do.
Most stores will fit memory upgrade for you. Zips an option they wont offer.

ok

all i wanted were a list of a few uk based websites that stock the 2000xl upgraded or not

just as a point of reference

ill probly end up getting one off of ebay anyways - considering the fact that maxed out ones with zip drive etc. are going for just over £500

if you guys dont know of any - its not a problem
