ASSIGNING MIDI NOTES TO MPC PADS

ALREADY DID A SEARCH!

Anyone know how to number the pads on your MPC so that the midi notes will fall in the correct order?


You add a number to each note number from Bank A to D...but I forgot the process....can't remember because it's been a while.


ANY help would be most appreciated!

In the progam menu you need to change the pad number on the assign page.

When you assign pads on the MPC

Note numbers are for example A40:83 A42:99, etc

There is a way to add a number to note to assign midi notes chronologically across the MPC's pads.

Hope I'm not being confusing.


Someone knows what I'm talking about.

Shift 6 = program

In the assign page you will see Pad:A01 = Note: 37

Note: 37 = C# on the chromatic scale

So pad A01 is assigned to C#

Pad: A02 = Note: 36

36 = C on the chromatic scale

ETC ETC

You need to change all these notes for all pads

EG Change Pad: A01 = Note: 37 to Pad: A01 = Note: 36

36 = C

Then change the corresponding Note number assigned to each pad so that it increases one number at a time as the you move from pad A01 to D16.

This is how you get the pads to follow the chromatic scale like it does on a keyboard/piano.

And if you were looking for a way o do this automatically then no luck my friend. You will have to go over each pad and set those note numbers manually.

TIP: Make an empty program (no sounds) with all the notes set in correct order and save it for later reuse.

Just read through this thread - Here's my related question:

I understand there is a way to assign the pads chromatically (via the manual method described in the thread). However, I use my 2000XL to control reason as a software synth - When I set a track to MIDI - device 1A (rather than an internal drum program) I can't get the pads to function chromatically. In other words - Is there a way to change which midi messages (notes) are being sent from the pads when using the MIDI rather than Program function on a track?

There IS a way to do this automatically.

Create an AUTO CHROMATIC program then remove the sounds.

Now load that silent program up on any track you want to be CHROMATIC (not chronological). You can still load a drum program when using midi.

The other option is to load the empty, chromatic pgm, then change that track to midi. The mpc behaves strangely about 'remembering' which program was in a track, or used last, or something like that, when you use a midi track. Again, let me state that I have not found a rhyme or reason to how this works, but it can be done.
