Mpc Drum Problem

So I'm new to the Mpc. I have the 2000 and have a Iomega250 pport on my computer and an Iomega100 Scsi on my Mpc. I used Mpceditor to load up a program to my zip disk. After I loaded my zip disk to my Mpc all of the drums were metallic sounding and distorted. Almost 8-bit sounding. How do I fix that? All samples were in wav. format and sounded fine in my computer since I tried them out before loading them on my zip disk. Maybe it's a faulty zip disk? I'll try another disk tonight but any thoughts until then?

That sound could be sample that are not 44khz/16bit wave. Your wave need to be 44khz/16bit when loaded into the mpc.


That sound could be unseated ram.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll look into both of those problems. I forgot to mention during this time I threw in a floppy disk with drums on it and those sounded great.

I just checked out my Wav. files and they are all 16bit and 44khz. I'll look into the RAM.

If you floppy sounds are good when loaded into the pads, then the ram is fine.

Now it's down to you samples not from the floppy. Open each and resave in your audio editor as 44/16, sometimes they need resaving to get them right.

Maybe a batch audio program that can resave multiple files to 44/16 in one fell swoop.

Also, take out any metadata in the wav files as well.

It was just a bad zip disk. I reloaded all the sounds on a new zip disk and bam...they hit hard!
