i cant work out how i can play back my beat im working on and sample cuts over it ....
basically when sample screen comes up... play of beat is stopped and i cant work out how to go about listening to the beat and then do my cuts over it so that they are in time... other than recording to MD or tape and listening back through my walkman or something whilst doing cuts.....
hope this makes sense.... any help appreciated ....

i've seen a lot of posts about this similar situation, and a lot of people just suggest a minidisc or tape to play back like you said.....

what i do is this...i got my MPC and sound modules all hooked into a roland vs1680 (digital recorder). So when i want to sample something i'll record 20 seconds or so of the beat into the recorder and play is back while i'm in the sample screen of the MPC. I'm able to do that because i hook the outs of the MPC into the recorder (track 10/11), but the beat is also recorded on track 12/13.
depending on how and what you use to mix down you might be able to do a simiar setup....what gear do you use to mix down and hook the 'outs' of the MPC too?

holla
