Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Just saw this vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYu5oT65oz8

Now: I wanna sync my MPC (got the 2000xl) with my sh-201 and do the stuff
these guys do. (No, I won't bite their music!)

What midi-setup do these guys have? I couldn't make it out on the vid.

Basically, I wanna play my synth, being on beat with the drums, keeping the melody, and overdub it while keeping the first melody).
If I get this done properly, I could sell my looper (the Boss RC-300  )

Peace!

P.S.:
And yes, I read the manual, and guess what, it's all Chinese to me, so I'm asking you guys, it's more fun.

You won't be able to do it as in the vid cause your synth doesn't provide more than 1 MIDI channel at a time.

You can record MIDI from the SH to the MPC but it will always be just 1 sound.

In the vid the keyboard is the just the input device, the MPC is the MIDI recording device and it also passes the MIDI to the (multitimbral) soundmodul underneath the MPC. Multitimbral means: The device is able to ply different sounds on different MIDI chanels at the same time. You can set a bass preset to MIDI channel 1, a piano preset to MIDI chnnel 2 and so on. On the MPC you'll set the tracks to the different MIDI chnnels and it will play the corresponding sound on the soundmodule.

To record and plaay from the SH connect the MIDI out of the SH to the MIDI in of the MPC nd the MIDI out of the MPC to the MIDI in of the SH
Check MIDI thru setting : Cursor on the tracks midi channel (for example 1A) then open window.
The thru setting should be off cause otherwise you'll hear the things you play on the SH doubled.

peace

Thx dude! I'll apply the setting today. Let's find out how it sounds.

I don't got a sound module, so I'll relate on the Looper instead.

Peace!
