MPC won't power up

my mpc 2000xl was working fine until today when I turned it on the screen flickered then went out, I fiddled about with the power cable for a second and then it came on again and was working as normal. Then I switched it off and when I tried switching it back on and it wont power up at all. Ive changed the fuse in the plug but still nothing.
What should I do?

judging by the fact that it worked after fiddling with the power cable...... replace the power cable?

It could be any number of things including a faulty power switch, a bad power supply. a loose cable or something else.

If you have a multimeter and understand the dangers of electricity you can carefully take readings on the AC and DC side of the power supply to help narrow down where the fault is.

If you don't have a multimeter perhaps you may know someone who has one and can help you out.

I totally agree with what MPC Hunter stated.

First, try booting with other AC cord (OK you've tried it). It would be because of loose contact.
That push-button power switch might be suspect too.
Secondly, it is quite possible that the power supply on your MPC is failing. You might need to replace the power supply in the MPC.

All that fiddling could have blown the power supply fuse inside the actual MPC. Can;t remember the exact fuse you need, they are like $1 on ebay for 10. Try a search here for 'MPC2000XL fuse'

How old is the MPC?
