external ZIP cable-trouble

hi there!

i have a 2000XL se 2 sitting right here and i also have an external iOmega zip drive.
as i want to connect those 2, i have a really hard time finding a cable that has 25 pins on one side and 50 pins on the other side...

i would also be happy with an adapter, beacuse i have the cable that fits the mpc and the cable that fits the zip drive, but nothing in between.

i did some research and found d-sub cables..
they look the same but aren't?
i also got confused with adapters that look like this:

the top 50 pin part looks like there would only fit long pins and not round ones...

and you're sure that the 50 pin connect is right?
because when i enter scsi 50 in google, these plug come up really often:

The cable that *Pilchard* links to is the correct one. The 50 pin side is a SCSI 2 connector which is also called HD50.

The cable that you found which will not fit is a SCSI 1 50 pin Centronics connector which is used on older SCSI Devices.

A 50-Pin HD50 Male to 25-Pin DB25 Female Adapter would also work.

i know what you wrote about how it has to be HD50, but this one says HP50..?

HP 50pol Sub D-Stecker auf 25pol Sub D-Stecker means HP 50pin Sub D-plug to 25pin Sub D-plug..

if this is just another wrong cable, i'll just go ahead and order the one from ebay..

I think you can safely order that, well spotted.

HD stands for High Density in English.
Perhaps HP translates in German?

usually stuff like HD don't get translated, but in this case HP stands for High Performance..

if you enter SCSI HP50 in google, the pictures look a lot like a HD cable..


i think i just ask the seller if the 50 pin part is male or female (can't really see it on the picture) and just go ahead and order it...

Good idea but, I can tell you it is the right one because it has the little gripping claws (and the buttons that work them ) that the male plug always has.
