Is the connected zip a SCSI zip ? Doest it have a micro switch on the back where you can select the scsi id ? Does it have a terminator switch ? If so and the scsi zip is the only external drive connected to your 2kxl/ or the last in a chain then it must be turned to ON.

i don't know if it's a scsi zip ... how can i tell? its an external iomega 100. the purple kind. there are no other switches whatsoever besides the eject button. the power is plugged in, and turned on. the problem is in the 2000xl when trying to switch devices to anything other than floppy. is there a way to check if the zip is being detected by the mpc? sheeeesh. no saving for me anytime soon :?

No micro switches on the back then ? Well it seems you have no scsi zip.

hang on a min,

So if you buy a zip drive with a scsi connection it doesnt necessarily mean its going to work on your MPC? or that it is a scsi zip drive??

Could someone tell me if this would work on the MPC2kxl?

This is a zip plus an should normally work on an mpc someone here on the forum managed to use it on a 2kxl.

But a parallel zip drive and a scsi zip drive have the same connectors if i'm not mistaken

The one your trying to use is for the end of a chain. You gotta get one with scsi ports only. I also suggest getting a 250. The 250 can read 100's as well as 250's. Try Ebay. I got 2 250's for $25.
