Creating a backup for MPC2000XL by using computer?

Hey,

I did a search on here and couldn't find an answer. I have an external hard drive where I store my samples, sounds, sequences, songs, etc... It would suck if my house blew up and I lost everything so I wanna make a backup, and I don't own a zip drive. I was wondering if it was possible to connect my MPC2000XL to my computer using either midi or SCSI cables to transfer and save the info. I know I can burn my stuff onto disks but doesn't the info get transfered as wave files, which are mixed down, and I can't work them anymore? Is there a way to just reload my backup from my computer, for example, onto my MPC and be able to work with the songs and all their sequences, and all my folders? I guess if my house blew up, I would lose the computer too. Thanks!

You can connect your extrenal hard drive to your computer provided you have the proper card installed on the computer. Then tranfer your drive info to the computer and back up each file on a CDR. If you reconnect the hard drive later you can send the info back from the CDR and it will work fine.

There are problems with connecting it directly to your computer and just copying/transferring files.

1) Long filenames will get truncated

2) Yo will not see any partition other than A.
