Recording midi channels another seqquencer.

Can I record all midi channels from another sequencer directly into the XL?

For example: I have a TS-10 that won't produce any sound but will still play sequences. Can I send MIDI out to the XL and capture the sequences MIDI channels to the corresponing channels on the XL? It really doesn't have to be corresponding channels, but I'm hoping it'll seperate the channels and not record all on one MIDI channel the XL.

Yes ........ I don't know what the TS-10 is but as long as it is a midi sequencer you can record sequences from it into the MPC in exactly the same way you would record midi data from a keyboard you were playing.

It is probably best to use the TS-10 as a master & MPC as a slave to sync the two together. That way you just need to use a single midi cable going OUT from the TS-10 & IN to the MPC.

Ok....I've just found out what it is. An old Ensoniq workstation keyboard from the early '90s. I don't know how complex its sequencer is but I'm sure you can solo individual tracks like you can on the MPC. So record each track from it onto a separate track in your MPC.

There is probably even a way to dump the whole sequence as a single midi file from one machine to another, perhaps via computer.

You may not have to solo tracks, and record them one at a time at all. I haven't checked it now, but i'm pretty sure the 2000xl can multitrack midi.
I'm also pretty sure it's in the manual.
