filtering sample in another sequence

ok im going to try to keep this as short as possible..


I have my drums on track 1 sample on track 2 in sequence01...I want to filter the sample on sequence02 without changing the pitch of the sample on sequence01....How would I do this??

filter and pitch are totally unrelated - so can you explain what you are talking about?

also where does sequence02 come in?

i'm going to assume you mean, track2, all in seq01.

in that case - you just filter the sample via the program edit. since the sample*/loop is on it's own pad, whatever settings you make via pgm edit (pitch or filter) will not affect anything on any of the other pads - like your drums.

you could also go into pgm edit, set the filter really low, then use the note var slider assigned to that pad and filter cutoff to control it in pseudo-realtime.

*it is a pet peeve of mine that so many people say 'sample' meaning phrase / loop. it is a sampler - all the sounds in it are samples.

well I am guessing you want seq 1 to have the sample un-filtered... but seq 2 you want that filter.

find a blank pad you aren't using... assign the same sample to that... add the filter on that one leaving the other pad with no filter. now use that pad in seq 2 instead of the other one.

this is exactly what i want thank you but how can I do this without redoing the entire sequence1 over? will i have to filter the samples and play them over the drums in sequence2 all over again?

You could just copy your sequence with one click. I'm dangerously close to a RTFM right now. Or you could do what tape said, tie the filter to the note variation slider and dial in your filter changes.

highlight sequence one on the main screen, push open window... click copy... then on the track with the sample, redo it with the new filtered sample.
