a CD burner for the MP 2000xl

I picked up a burner (plex something) used from a computer shop. When i first plugged it in, the MP recognized it in the setup screen. However i can't get it to format and eventually an error memo popped up and then it went to some reallly crazy screen i've never seen before. Now i can't even get it to recognize the burner. It's a CD-R that has a converter from internal to external and i know all the scsi cord is right. IN the FAQ section there was one part where it said the MP can't work with a burner, but when i bought it, it came with a sheet saying all the burners that are compatible. Somebody Help Me!! What MPC are you using? Most MPC's do not write to CDR's. Many can use CD writers as CD readers.

THAT IS SHITTY! i GUESS I HAVE TO HAVE A ZIP DRIVE THEN?

Huh? Why does everyone think that Zip is only alternative solution. There are other possibilities, like compact flash.
