Iomega 100 Scsi Zip - Last one I promise

Hi,

I have just got myself the correct SCSI wire to go from my MPC to my Zip....on the back of the Zip there is a male Autodetect socket and another female socket....

The end of the cable that goes into the zip drive is a male....so I cannot plug that into the autodetect socket without a gender changing adapter....so can I plug it into the other socket? the female one? or is that for something different?

I'd normally just plug it in and give it a go....but am weary about this coz its taken me so long to get to where I am now...I dont wanna mess it up or nufffin...

in brief....do I need a gender changing adapter or not....

Any guidance would be much appreciated,

Look at your cable, see what you need and go get it.
Try "scsi for samplers" and other scsi cable sites.

Yo Lampdog read the quetsion again.....I am asking if I need to get a gender adapter or not...

I have multiple zip and when switching them I use either port. I didn't bother reading the ZIP so until today I never realized there were two options. LOL

I think you should try the female socket. As they are both on the back of a SCSI zip drive they should both be SCSI .... although the two SCSI zips I've got (one 100MB & one 250MB) have two of the same female sockets on the back.

Just connect everything up with both the MPC & zip drive switched off.

I've tried the female socket on the back on both i.d 5 & 6 and its telling me No SCSI device on both of em....

anyone got any idea's before I go and buy an adapter??

Connect everything, turn on the SCSI devices before the MPC. Turn the MPC off before the SCSI Devices. One of the sockets is for SCSI in and the other is for SCSI out when on the same device.

yeh the manual says the female socket is for connecting to another device such as a printer....

I dont think its gonna work....I'll have to go grope me up an adapter i think....this Zip drive lark is getting expensive,

pg 189 to 190.

Is it a parallel drive?

Get a straight adapter if in case you HAVE to get an adapter.
