8outs... how does everyone use there 8outs...

please list how you use yours... like what connects what, to do what...

I run my 8 outs to individual channels on my mixer, and eq each independantly, add separate effects, etc. The main advantage is that you have a dedicated mixer summing all sounds together and individual control over each sound.

The Stereo outs sum everything through a simple mixer / amplifier combo, so the sound quality is better with the individual outs. I usually separate like sounds to the same output, like all kicks go to 1, all snares 2, hats, 3, toms or claps and shit to 4, and then depending what other samples I have I will spread them out, trying to group sounds in the same pitch range on each out so the eq settings can stay about the same.

I rarely use over 6 of them at a time, but it is very handy.

I use my 8-outs as the portal to the 8-th dimension. There we deliberate gold contact metalurgy theory, spotted turtle mating, and blue ink usage for PaperMate 2-click pens. Then we find the inverted 1-menu cardboard MPC to play country music in reverse. That is, if we can actually here it over the 53 Hz hum that bleeds through the chandelier from the 5th and 7th harmonic dimensions.

although I have 8 outs on my 2XL I find that I get a strong sound when using the r/l main outs
also on my 4000 I have only main outs
some people feel you get a naturally stronger sound when using main l/r outs but if you wanna effect individual channels then 8 outs is the way to go.. actually you get 10 as you can also use 8 plus the l/r mains

I think the Main outs would distort easier, and make the sound a bit more cramped in space,and therefore they might make the sound seem like it's bursting to be heard. Is this what you mean?

Not necessarily. The signals will HAVE to get mixed together somewhere. That is, they can get mixed while still in the MPC, on a mixer, or when bouncing down tracks. Eventually it has to get done.

I tend to mix in the MPC itself since I feel it is a bit easier to do it now than later. I do this even if I record individual outputs since it still has to get done, particularly since I master it myself.

true, but a dual op amp mixer and a dedicated mixer are miles apart.

if you have all your outs going to the mixer.... how do you have room to sample from other instruments... for example a korg triton or emu pk6..?

Easy, I have a 24 channel mixer ;)

I don't usually sample instruments directly, but when I do, I just plug a mono cable into the insert jack and into the MPC sample input. Mostly I use the turntable wired to the sample input through a stereo 10 band eq and my computer.

I just got my 8-audio-cable snake, and I finally got my 8 outs hooked up to do something useful through my Delta 1010LT card on my PC. I just figured out how to record multiple tracks on Cool Edit Pro 2. Unfortunately, the 1010LT's 8 analog in puts consist of 2 mic levels + 6 RCA, but then again, it kicks the ghetto out of recording all of your tracks through the stero outs!

Anybody else out there with a similar setup?
