The chance of getting a 2000 classic, BUT...

Hello, mates.

I've got a chance for a good deal for the 2000 classic. The thing is that it has some dead pixels on the screen. About 6 vertical lines. One can see what's happening on the screen without a big problem. The question is: is there a possibility to fix it? Guys, I know there were couple of threads about this issue, but I haven't found one about 2000 classic and which could answer my question properly. I've found something linke this on ebay:

no. you will need a brand new screen, and they are currently unavailable. do a search for envision electronics or look at mpcstuff.com for new screens.

this screen is dying and the already missing pixels mean it is just going to go faster now.

great reason to get the machine for VERY cheap.

Thank You very much for the quick reply. I think that 270$ for that sampler is quite all right. I'll keep my eye on mpc stuff to get the screen as soon as I can.

With the manual out you can rock a lined screen and just learn to know what's under the garbled screens. I have an XL that has 16 lines which is pretty bad.

So like tapedeck said hopefully version 2 of the newer replacement screen touch down soon, and yeah deals are to be had as parts machines or rock it with the lines on the bad LCD 2000/XL's.

If he's not a homie don't tell him about the new screens coming and try for $200. You might luck out, but the $270 isn't total robbery either. But $400 will get you an XL with no screen issues if you find one. My last one was near mint for $400. (cat never used it clearly)

I'm only worried abou prices of the new screen on mpcstuff. I'm from Poland, and the cost in dollar currency + shipping might kill me.

the screen is on it's way out - that's all there is to it.

you will need a new screen, and without previous experience, i think it would be really hard to learn without being able to see it. i can understand if you are very well-versed in the machine, but as a newcomer, that would be really hard.

I'm pretty sure I actually saw the last 6 OEM LCD all go in the fall of '09. VST had one for like $379 I think MPCStuff had maybe one that was used for well over $200 and some guy on ebay sold 4 sealed OEM ones with the quickness before i even could bid.

So there it is in a way, a 2000 for $300-$350 and a $379 LCD.

nu-comer the prices are pretty much set for the Envision ones, it's just a couple guys and their techs and was not the easiest to do so it's taking a while for the 2nd set of replacement LCD's which seem to be improved over the originals they released in small quantity.

But yeah man it's easy to show a seller "yo there are NO screens ATM" and try to haggle lower on price.

I've quit that option. It doesn't make sense at all. I'll be haunting for another one with proper screen. As I can see it's a frequent and in fact main problem with these 2000 and xl's models. Well, at least I know what to be aware of.

Anytime. I got 5 counting the lined one and none is a 3000 so you're already smarter than I am.

You should factor in the cost of replacement LCD screen into your purchases. So it should be the fair price minus 150$...

I had such an MPC for about a year or two. The lines didn't get more, so it was usable. But then I sold it in order to get me an XL, so I don't know how long the display would have lasted.
