No, this is not correct.
It has to be SCSI.
It can be external SCSI, or internal SCSI if you hack an internal SCSI connection.
You might be able to still find a native SCSI card reader, but these are very hard to find for sale now.
If you want to use an IDE card reader, which are easier to find than a native SCSI card reader, you can use an IDE card reader along with a SCSI-IDE bridge, on either the external SCSI connection, by mounting the IDE card reader and SCSI-IDE bridge inside a generic external SCSI case, or on a hacked internal SCSI connection, by mounting the IDE card reader in place of the floppy drive (or elsewhere internally if external access to the memory card is not required).
The majority of external SCSI card readers that are available from online vendors are actually IDE card readers, with a SCSI-IDE bridge, in a generic external SCSI case.
You might also be able to use a SCSI-SATA bridge, along with a SATA card reader, instead of IDE.

Ok Im gittin it now , Yah ive got a 2000 classic dont want to open it up as the floopy works cool and id like to keep it original . The external CF reader would be cool $275 plus shipping might have to do it . What Simon is saying is interesting tooi could get the IDE CF reader and the bridge cable an build a box . Question is how much could this poor boy save in way ?
