Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Does anyone know how to discern between needing to replace the whole XL screen or just the PCB inverter board? I know ribbons can be an issue as well.

Basically I traded my 2000 for a XL with a bad screen. I have a bunch of 2000 parts though and I think the inverter board is the same. The seller told me that he had this unit inspected by a local repair dude who said it wasn't the screen and he could fix it for $150. Idk how you determine what the actual problem is. It's be nice if I can throw this 2000 inverter board in and be in business for nothin.

The inverter board powers the CCFL backlight. If the backlight in the MPC is not working, the issue could either be the CCFL tube or the inverter.

If the LCD screen has lines in the display or no display at all, then the LCD assembly is bad and replacing the inverter will not fix it.

Ok I just swapped the inverter out and it is definitely not the issue. So does that mean its time to find a new screen?
