How to Properly sync MPC 2000xl with Pro Tools

Wsup guys, I got a MPC 2000xl that I would like to hook up to my Digi 002 & use with PT8 for mastering, adding synths, etc. The problem is, I've never been able to successfully get Pro Tools to acknowledge any of my midi devices. I'm not at the crib right now, so I can't go thru all the steps I'm aware of, but I do know you have to set the tracks on Pro Tools & the channels on the MPC to the same midi channel. I already have a midi cable going 4rm the midi out of the MPC to the midi in of the Digi 002, & vice versa. Now how do I properly configure the "Devices/Midi" section on Pro Tools so that it recognizes my MPC, that's most likely where the issue lies. Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance

Have you tried using the forum search function? This question is asked on an almost weekly basis as a lot of people use Pro Tools, so give it a try, you're sure to turn up some useful information.
