yes.... 8 inputs would be ideal... but not because of quality so much as having less inputs will force you to sync them up manually in your DAW later.

I record through the 8 inputs simultaneously through either the analogs or adat on the 18i6 through USB seamlessly without any dropouts/latency/issues at all.

Unless... the mpc is synced to the daw via midi, that way when tracking a 'second pass' so to speak, capturing the other parts that wern't recorded the first time round, the mpc would be sync'd and play in time with the previously recorded audio
