MPC2000XL starting up but unable to use pads/cursor/wheel et

Hope anyone can help with this

Got a mpc2000xl and its starting up fine checking floppy even throwing up all the leds on startup so i can see the controller board seems to be working

once its loaded up I can not navigate or change anything, mpc looks like its started up fine and BANK A lcd is green as i would expect

i opened the MPC checked connections to mainboard and reseated ram etc, disconnected floppy, disconnected pads and turned off/on in between to see if it makes a differences

same behaviour without floppy/ram
same behaviour after reconnecting cables, made sure everything sits fine

If i had to guess I would say something with the Controller is broken, ie. communication chip that passes the data onto the Mainboard, if it was the mainboard then i would expect the MPC to fk up and show errors or not even start

While the micro controller and/or EPROM may be corrupt or damaged, it is not very common.

Have you made sure all the tact switches underneath the buttons are in good condition and not stuck or shorted?

I would also check the controller PCB for cracks or damage.
