Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

MPC-2000XL can read 2000 classic's data. Plus, 2000XL also has SCSI port, so you can use SCSI Zip drive.
I sold my 2000 classic, then bought 2000XL. If you find 2000 classic's file management unbearable, then I'd recommend to replace your 2000 classic with 2000XL.

yeah like mentioned.. get a scsi zip drive... load up the project like you used to do on the 2000 classic... but then go to the save screen and save it to a new folder in the cf card. (you switch the thing from scsi to atapi and hit save)

mpcstuff is super duper expensive. 300 bucks for an external cf card reader.

you could try mpcstoragesolution.com , they're in Chicago, and they sell the same thing for 200 bucks. I keep mentioning them because they are cool, just contact them and ask for information on a hotswap cf card reader. good luck.

Well, if you really want to install SCSI CF reader, this seems to be the cheapest solution:

CF AztecMonster CF-3.5" SCSI Converter Card

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CF-AztecMonster ... 0976339841

However, MPC2000 classic doesn't even have internal SCSI port. I'm pretty sure that this is compatible with MPC2000 classic, you'll need an external SCSI enclosure. If I were you, I wouldn't even bother.

Not hot swap, unfortunately, if that matters.

Cheapest would probably be to find a cheap Acard SCSI-IDE/ATAPI bridge, and <$5 IDE-CF adapter.

Could possibly find a cheap Acard bridge, and a new CompuApps ATAPI reader, for a possible hot swap solution (if it actually works in/on the 2000 Classic), at not much more than the AztecMonster.

If you get on Amazon, you can look up the:

StarTech.com 3.5-Inch Drive Bay IDE to Single CF SSD Adapter Card Reader (35BAYCF2IDE)

They are 20.00-25.00USD

Rugged steel construction, very sturdy all around. Takes no special changes. Plug and play.

If your not a fan of Amazon for any reason, you can get the same unit from TigerDirect.com for 24.00USD

You'll see the picture in the description. Here is an image of that exact unit installed in the 2000XL.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, a CF card over 1GB won't be useable by the 2000XL, for those who are super unfamiliar with these

As mentioned above, this will not work in an MPC2000 without a SCSI-IDE bridge, and either an external SCSI case or a modified internal SCSI connector.
