I have downloaded tons of samples and programs for my MPC2000XL. I've tried several ways to get the programs/samples to the MPC, and no matter what I try it seems to have the same problem, which is that the MPC truncates any file names over 8 characters. The program refers to file names that are too long, so the MPC doesn't find most of the samples, and they don't load up.
I've tried doing this several ways
On Windows XP, I copied a program and all its samples to an MPC-formatted zip disk. I tried to load up the program from the ATAPI zip drive in my MPC. No good.
On Windows XP, I copied a program and all its samples to a windows-formatted zip disk. I tried to load up the program from the ATAPI zip drive in my MPC. No good.
On Windows 98SE, I copied a program and all its samples to an MPC-formatted zip disk. I tried to load up the program from the ATAPI zip drive in my MPC. No good.
On Windows 98SE, I copied a program and all its samples to a windows-formatted zip disk. I tried to load up the program from the ATAPI zip drive in my MPC. No good.
On Windows XP, I burned a program and all its samples to a CD-R. I tried to load up the program from the SCSI CD-ROM attached to my MPC. No good.
On Windows 98SE, I burned a program and all its samples to a CD-R. I tried to load up the program from the SCSI CD-ROM attached to my MPC. No good.
So from what I can tell, it looks like I have to load all the samples in one at a time and create my own programs. Does anyone have a clue about anything I might be doing wrong?
thanks, peace
