MPC to Nuendo Setup - Midi Time Code?

I have an MPC 2000 that I want to hook up to Nuendo. I'm trying to Sync the MPC to Nuendo but I can't seem to figure it out.
I have an Maudio Audiophile soundcard connected to my PC and I use a a Fostex mixer just as a send through (so to speak) The MPC is connectecd with midi plugs directly to my PC and the audio runs from the MPC to the mixer to the PC.

Now the problem I have is trying to drop a song in song mode, track by track into Nuendo. (obviously it's more time consuming this way, however, it is much cheaper than doing it at the studio) I have done it in the studio but can't seem to do it here at home. I don't have the 8 out expansion board, however the engineer at the studio we used to record at said I wouldn't need it. He said I could use the stereo outputs instead since my sound card only has two inputs/outputs anyway. Will this work or do I need to cop the 8-out effects board? If so, what settings on the MPC do I need to use? I believe we used Midi time code in the studio. And is there anything special I should be doing in Nuendo (as far as setup) Help!

yeah, you can, just mute the tracks and record one by one using Nuendo as master with midi clock or some shit.

you can also mute individual sounds in a single track with the audio mixer page.

I have synced my MPC to Cubase SX and it works wicked...

You don't necessarlily need a mixer as this will just remove quality from your signal anyway and the AudioPhile is a Wicked sounding card anyway.

If I were you I would Sync using TimeCode and MMC..

TimeCode will lock your MPC really tight with Neundo and MMC will allow your MPC to controll the start, stop, rec, locate controls of Nuendo...

I don't have my MPC infront of me but if you look in the Manual its pretty easy....Set Midi Out A to send Time Code and MMC....Set Nuendo to recieve Time Code and MMC on your Midi IN... Set the Tempos the Same....your away my friend.....Press PLAY & REC on your MPC and your REC on Neundo will light up as if by magic....

You might want to add and extra two bar sequence at the start of your song on your MPC to give it time to LOCK on TIGHT before it starts to record....

you dont got to set the tempo on the mpc cause if nuendo is the master then what every you set nuendo temp thats the tempo the mpc will go at. i really dont see a need for the mpc to control nuendo so at best all you need is one midi cord coming out of your mpc (1) or (2) and into your midi interface (midi out) then go to nuendos (Sync options) and set nuendo to Midi Clock not midi time code cause every time i set my mpc to mtc on nuendo or pro tools it always starts the mpc half way into the first bar. if ever thing is set up rigth when you hit play on nuendo you should see right by the tempo of the mpc say (ext).....thats telling you its being control by a out side source or Nuendo.

Yep, your Right...It will be out of sync on the first bar of the sequence!!!!!
It needs time ....the initial flood of data recieved by the MPC will take a bar or so to sort out......I would sync the PC to the MPC as the MPC is the master of your song right....You don't want any fluctuations in the PC's timing to ruin the rock solid tightness of your MPC....?


Its recommended you add two blank bars at the begining of your song. Which I would do anyway to give your Hard Disk buffers time to set them selves up for recording....(this used to be a bigger issue than it is these days)

I have herd that MTC is much tighter than Midi Clock and if your not sending MIDI notes to Nuendo, then there is no reason why you shouldn't be using it....Remember to set appropriate frames per sec sync value aswell....

where to start? Well, I can pretty much sync the MPC to Nuendo. Added the xtra bar, tried it with MPC as Master, MMC: On, frame rate 30fps, I hit play and Nuendo transport automatically plays like it's supposed to, but I can't get it to record anything thruough the midi track in Nuendo. It seems to be recording but no data is being recorded. (blank space) Should I just use a regular audio track? I figured I should be using a midi track in Nuendo. I have the midi track set to use the Ap Delta Midi device (I have an audiophile soundcard). I am using the stereo outputs instead of the 8-out board becuase well...I don't have an 8-out board. Is this the problem? Also, I am trying to set this up in song mode. Should I just convert the song to a single sequence and record one track at a time? (sounds time consuming though) Maybe it's an Nuendo question...What are my options? Guess I'm a novice when it comes to this PC recording sh**! ARGGH! Help! Somebody?
