Mpc 2000xl Once Saved A Sequence and put onto p.c Plays as p

hi there, everytime I make a sequence and save it as a midi file once I put it onto my laptop it just plays piano noise. Does anyone know how to change this? ive been reading the manual relentlessly and cant find any info on this. Im sure there will be some setting im just a proper sausage

you can add program changes into each track of the sequence which will change the general midi sounds that the midi file plays back as.

but my guess is you are trying to get the whole song off the mpc, with your sounds.

you either need to
a) record the audio out of the mpc as the sequence plays, or
b) rebuild your mpc programs in your computer on a software sampler and play them back with your midi file.

Easiest way is to track it out to a program (e.g, Audacity, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, etc.)

Your MPC is a MIDI sequencer, with a MIDI sampler.

An MPC sequence is MIDI notes, playing back sounds from the MPC sampler, or being sent to an external MIDI device.

If you take an MPC sequence, and play it in your computer, it probably plays back the MIDI notes in the sequence using a default built-in General MIDI (GM) synthesizer inside the computer, which defaults to a piano sound.

If you really want to playback the MPC sequence, as MIDI, inside the computer, and have it sound the same as in the MPC, you have to make the MIDI sequence in the computer playback sounds from a software sampler, or attached external hardware sampler, and you need to load the same sounds that you are using in the MPC into the sampler, and assign them to the same MIDI note numbers that they are assigned to in the MPC.

What most sane people do is record the audio outputs of the MPC into the computer, rather than trying to setup a MIDI sampler in/with the computer to playback the same samples that are being played in the MPC.
