The 2000XL Has a sampler so is there something about it that you don't like?

The EB16 which is the name for the FX card if you go to search eBay for it, can be fairly pricey, possibly hard to find depending on country.

The S6000 I don't know much about, except it seems like a very nice machine in terms of complexity. I'm not much help in the S series samplers however.

Take a look at prices of them all. I know the S3000 if you want just a sampler that stays at home and not taken on the road, has a very low price usually.

No need to appologise for your English, you are clear enough

Best can only be personal. What is best to you, is not best for me. The S950 is pretty basic, lots like it because the circuitry some how gives it a "Warm" sound like the classic MPC 60 gave.

You can't just use the 2000XL? If you want an S6000 or Z8, do you want it so you can save all your sounds? Because you can just save sounds on memory cards or disks if that is the case.

That website has information in detail, also lots of user reviews for all the S series samplers. When considering them, look at them all, study them to see what attracts you

First,thanks for your reply!
With the mpc 2000xl, i use my pc for mixing my sounds(eq,delays,compressor...)and i record in my pc the chops and after i extrack all this sounds to put them again in 2000xl for live perfomance. This process is very uncomfortable.I want something more complete, like mpc 4000.Now you ask me why not buy the 4000?I love the ''dirty'' sound of 2000xl.Is not very dirty but isn't and clear. This sound is perfect for my aesthetic and is good machine for live perfomance.
I have heard the EB16 has not good quality in the fx.

If i get it right, cause my english are bad too :) , imo u just need an 8 inputs soundcard. Meaning that you can use a DAW (where you can find way better fx's and usability than the eb16) to make your mixes and then play the whole arrangement on the 2kxl.
You just need the 8 outs card on your mpc, and thats all. You connect the audio 8 outs from the xl to the soundcard (a presonus firepod for example) and use a software as a digital mixer. Also you can load instantly the project which contains the mix of a track, when in the meantime all of your audio files stays in your mpc. The only limitation is that you have just 8 lines to mix (if i m not mistaken there is a way to get 10 different signals if you use the stereo out too).
Hope i was clear and helpful.

The 2000XL does not actually have a dirty sound. Same with the 4000. It's a placebo. Meaning you hear it so much, that in your mind, it does in fact exist. So don't let a sound worry you when your making your decision.

The "Dirty Sound" if you want, MPC 60 or 3000 I believe. It's all in how you work your sounds in the end.

The MPC 2000XL I can see being good for live proformace in terms of size and weight. What I'm having trouble understanding is your process.

You edit all your sounds in the PC. Then from PC put them into the 2000XL. And just jam live? Or do you actually sequence in the 2000XL at all? Or sample into the 2000XL?

If you are using the PC for the majority of things, you don't "need" the EB16. If you can afford it, and that is your groove, try and find one. However it would not be a must. In terms of the EB16 quality, it is another personal choice. For example. Some say the Reverb is horrible, others say it has a classic sound.

I wonder now that you mention the 4000. I've never used one. I know they have something like 512MB of Ram and can have Hard Drives. So storage you have better covered. Also a USB port for easy file transfering. Also take a look at the outputs.

Take a look here:

I sample all sounds in the mpc. After i record my samples in the pc to convert my chops in loop and to add fx to pass my sounds with fx in my mpc for live permomance.I use the sequencer to see the structure initially of the beat.

I think the mpc 2000xl has more dirty sound because of the bit-rate.In 2000xl we have 16 bit and in 4000 we have 24 bit if I'm not mistaken.

MPC4000 is the Z4/8 sampling engine in an MPC.

It is not going to sound 'dirty', if it even does, due to being 16 bit.

44.1kHz/16 bit, which the MPC2000XL uses, is the standard sample rate/bit depth for CDs...do CDs sound 'dirty'?

I doubt that you could even tell the difference between a 16 bit and 24 bit signal, on the same hardware, in a side by side test.

:hmmm:

Whichever piece that has the feature set you need to build your stuff is the one to choose.

I agree about the dirtyness with SimonInAustralia, but the difference on bitrates/samplerates becomes more clear when you mixing. You get more dynamic range on 24bit, and better freq response on 92khz (where eq works better when it is digital) and this difference is clear imo. Hope not being out of topic...

Not at all. Good to mention for the original poster! Plus anyone else who stumbles on this via Google searching.
