Doesn't show ATAPI, then change jumper settings around, reboot and try to see ATAPI again.

When you turn on mpc are all the lights on? Ribbon cable might be backwards unless it's "keyed" meaning you can't possibly connect it backwards.

Does it have jumpers (master, single, slave)? Take pictures, upload pics to tinypic.com and past the IMG link here in your post. We need to see everything you see.

Do you have another similar computer hard drive cable you can try?

MCD stands for multi card drive, any drive can have that on the plate.

I do not know where the jumpers would be, but i havent seen anything that looks like jumpers. I don't have any other cables. The cables are keyed and all the lights turn on when i turn the machine on

Look for a set of 4 little pins, with a black peice of plastic covering two pins.

Should be labeled beneath the pins or in that intimidate area "Slave/Master" ect.

i have looked all over the card reader and there are no jumpers. I found an old zip drive that connects via 25 pin SCSI though. could i get an adapter to fit that to the MPC? The only problem would be connecting it to my computer. it doesnt have any SCSI ports
