The processor in the 2000 is prehistoric. But a few small additions that are in the 2000XL might work. If JJ was talking about newer functions from the 1000 and 2500, then I can see where it would be a problem. Ask JJ specifically about the added features in the 2000XL. If he can do that, he'll gain a lot of sales.

There are many function/feature ideas, which probably would require a better processer on Akai Mpc-2000.

The question is maybe: “Is the processor pressed to the limit?”

I do not think it is about the money for JJ/ Murai, Because I offered JJ to create a “Kickstarter”-project, which could fund/cover the working hours spend on updating the OS.

I don't see why this can't or shouldn't be done.

It was done with the MPC-3000 (Vailixi)

The MPC 2k/XL OS still has a few bugs/could be optimised more to make the machine even better, for me it's my favourite MPC other than the mk1 60 and a lot of 2k users I think would feel the same so I'm sure they'd all like a improved OS.
How much more you could cram is another question but for sure it could be improved.

The 2k uses from memory much of the same stuff the MPC-3000 did and at their heart is a NEC V53

The greatest difficulty is descrambling the code. Remember talking to some one who worked for Akai back in the day and I remember him saying the code was split in two parts on the 2k, A and B or something. One could easily be modified so you could change text in the OS but the other file responsible for all the stuff we want to get at was just scrambled code only the Akai folks could work out/decode.

You can't see why above, then provide the answer to that yourself.

Now we know the layout of the OS with A and B splitted code.

What is the next step?

If the OS could be updated, I would like to be able to use next sequence after going into sequence record or overdub, without having to press stop and play.
