sound issues...

Hi I just recently joined the forum, and its been a huge help getting started. that being said thanks to all you friendly mpc users out there. But im having problems getting a clean sample every time I try to record a chop its not loud enough. im not sure what to do if anyone is feeling mpc perceptive. it would be greatly appreciated

use the mixer in the machine to turn every other sound lower and then turn up the main volume knob.

Shift mixer then?? Im not sure exactly how to do these things I just got my mpc and I've been trying to figure out this sound problem the whole time I have no mpc knowledge
