so now to be clear, the first half of the recording is sampled in at normal and the second half is sampled in exceeding threshold?

or the first half of the recording is recorded in at normal and the second half is recorded in exceeding threshold?

Only thing I changed was the Rec Gain. So the first half is sampled into the MPC at normal volume and the second is sampled with the Rec Gain cranked up some. The effect is just from cranking up the Rec Gain, and nothing else.

this is a 2000 classic.
I never really had the chance to A/B the 2000 and the 2000xl but there are people who tell the 2000 sounds more "colorized" than the 2000xl. I also read someone said that he had two 2000xl and they sound different.

I thought they sound the same. I thought the 2000XL was just an enhanced version of the 2000.

I love my 2000XL I alway go back to it and make beats on it.

When I play my Mpc 2000 into my daw

I have to turn the volume down to about 2 and a half otherwise the signal is just too strong & it distorts like flapping paper.

I'm a oldskool hip hop head and I have no time for midrange.
Bare joke biz int it.

I dont know about colorization or what ever you want to call it , they can handle a big signal, I suspect they even like bass, nerrm saying
ONE !
